Self expression. Where are you comfortable showing the world what you want to say? Where do you hide?

For years I’ve maintained the story, I’m not a artist. I sit behind the curtain as a songwriter and producer, infusing my creativity into others self expression. Even typing this, it seems obvious to me that I was even ignoring acknowledging my artistry there.

I’ve decided to push myself and change the story. My declaration was to put an EP album out in 2017 and it will be released in the next 2 weeks. My album “Crepe Paper Moon” will be released under the project name “The Lost Silhouettes”. For this project I get to be 100% me. I get to say what I want to say from where I want to say it. With putting anything into the world, I’m opened up for judgement, but I’m over using that as an excuse. Don’t get me wrong… I’m still nervous, but I’m empowered.

Where are you holding back? What is the truth you haven’t stepped into yet? What’s the game you want to play? What are you playing it for? Changing a story, one at a time, is one step closer to what you want out of life than you were before. For me, coaching was the vehicle to begin that process. Let’s go for a ride together and see where we end up?

What does it feel like to live as 100% you? It’s even a bit uncomfortable to write or talk about. My experience has been that external influences modify my behavior. Our perceptions of other people’s expectations create motivation for us to change… But is it for us?

What if you could be 100% you in every situation/experience? What would be the impact on your life? What would be the impact on your relationships? With your friends? With your family? With your significant other? With your work? With yourself? What if you are perfect just the way you are?

Something that I hide from the world is anything that would make me not feel like I’m perfect. The bar is always set to high. (And it’s imaginary) If I can’t reach it, I will play a small game. This becomes a game of the ego… A team of one… The wizard behind the curtain with no one to impress. It’s a lonely game with no end goal. What if I changed the game? Changed the story? Lately, I’ve been practicing building the foundation to allow support in, making impactful moves and re-inventing my relationship to the goals and vision I’ve set for myself. The verdict? More heart, more movement, more connection, most importantly.. MORE ME!

What is something that you haven’t shared with the world? What is something you haven’t acknowledged to yourself that is part of you at your core? What can you take on to put 10% more of YOU into the world and yourself? Coaching has taught me that a story is simply just that. Sometimes I don’t even realize I’m living the story. What’s the story you want to change? Let’s talk about it and set the foundation to shift it.

There are two aspects of events. What happens and our interpretation. When I was ten, I was a small child. I scored barely registered on the chart for height and weight of kids my age. I was less than the 10th percentile as as some of the tests were indicating I was set to stay there. I learned that my cell receptors didn’t know how to uptake the growth hormone. Imagine if you will a middle school dance in the 90’s, boys on one side, girls on the other. Both secretly interested in the mingle, but terrified to make the first move. Yeah that my biology. This is one case of gathering evidence to being the construction of my story. I call it “Behind The Curve”. This blockbuster screenplay would stick with me through life, generating, seeking, picking up evidence along its way just so I can be right about it. I mean, come on, we all like to be right about something, right? If it walks like a ducks, and talks like a duck, it must be a duck!?! Relating to our stories in such a way only re enforces how real they FEEL to us. What if we were to look at life through this lens? What do you imagine YOU would see? What if you could SWAP out that lens? What if you could CHANGE YOUR STORY?!? Coaching has taught me to put down the story, see it as only that, and choose something that better servers my life. Interested in changing yours? Let’s talk!
